Customer Critiques
Ok I did not get this on Amazon, I got it at a neighborhood expo show and paid a little alot more but it is the exact same heli. This is a particularly good helicopter and regardless of other critiques seems to be quite durable. To give an example I have crashed several occasions, including into the ground, into a tree, a telephone pole, a steel automotive lift (the factors that lift cars in mechanic shops), though I have a few dents and dings in the rotors they are nevertheless solid and it nevertheless flies. The balance bar bent as well but I just bent it back and all is properly. I would call that fairly really good considering some of the much more high dollar helis like my friend has the rotor will shatter upon contact with a solid surface.
There is a understanding curve to flying this. Just since it is a gyro copter, dont think that you can just take it out and fly with out crashing. I had a tough time acquiring off the ground for the initially day, ground effect came in and produced it go left each and every time. Following some practice and messing with the trim tabs on day 2 I got definitely excellent at it. It is affected by wind but ALL helicopters are. This is to consist of genuine helicopters. Not some thing I commonly bring up but in this case it could possibly aid, I use to be on a flight line with the AH-64A and AH-64D on a frequent basis, I also worked on the guidance systems and weapons. Wind has a dramatic influence on a huge heli so smaller winds can and will knock an RC to the ground. To start out studying either do it on a day with no wind or obtain a gym/auditorium to get started.
Battery time is not poor, I get about 15 minutes per charge, it takes about 2.5 hrs to recharge the battery. I just ordered five even more batteries right here on amazon so that I can get about an hour or significantly more of play time before having to wait on a charge. General I am satisfied with the acquire and basically am going to get one for my buddy who paid more than 400 on his Pro heli that is too difficult to get off the ground. I figure use these a mastering tool then get to the bigger additional advanced 4 - 6 channel helis.
Again just a suggestion, but get very good with it at about 1.five - 2 ft off the ground very first. Its harder to fly closer to the ground since of ground effects so if you can get excellent close to the ground you need to have no issues higher in the air.
For the value, you in fact get a pretty decent piece of hardware. That being said, there are a few modifications I would make ahead of use. It says ready to fly on the box, and fly it will... how nicely is certainly open to debate. The very first thing is to remove the canopy, loosen the battery, and slide it most of the way forward, then tighten the mounting bracket down once again. This will move the center of gravity forward. This is crucial because with no performing this, you literally can't fly forwards. Other mods to increase maneuverability are to shorten the tail boom, slide the landing skids forward (easy), and replace the rear tail rotor with 1 of these: [...]
After replacing the rear rotor you will have to move the rear stabilizers up on the boom to make area for the larger blades.
Another mod that aids a lot is to replace the battery with a bigger 1, like a 15c 7.4v 3000mah. This also improves the flight characteristics by escalating weight in the nose, and more than all (much less likely to be batted about by the wind)
Make certain to get a full set of replacement parts. You will want them... the helicopter is tough, dont get be incorrect (I have crashed from 40+ feet with little to no harm) but there are breakable parts like the blade holders. (they are inexpensive, order a hand complete)
And right here is a link to a forum which has a lot of excellent information about how to make this excellent tiny chopper a fantastic 1. For the price tag, its truly a fantastic deal.

A lot of folks seem to knock this helicopter for the reason that they do not ever want to operate on it. That's part of the hobby... Enhancing and repairing the gear. Its not all that complex, and the parts are Low cost, which is a boon. There are many 'hobby grade' helicopters out there you could devote a lot alot more dollars on that almost certainly fly superior and so on... but the expense of maintainability goes WAY up. Think about that for an initial investment of ~$60 its quite a hoot.
